Ian Bickerton joined Huijskens Communications as a partner in September 2007, after eight years as a correspondent with the Financial Times, the world's leading international business newspaper. Ian has 30 years' experience in top-flight journalism. He began his career in Fleet Street at the age of 17 as a runner at the Press Association, the UK national news agency, and qualified in media law and public administration to gain his NCTJ certificate in journalism at the age of just 20.
A former contributing editor with Drapers Record, the fashion trade journal, his articles have also appeared in the UK Sunday Times, Sunday Correspondent, and Observer newspapers. He joined the FT's Amsterdam staff in 1998 and was appointed Netherlands' bureau chief in 2002, leading the newspaper's coverage of events including the assassinations of Pim Fortuyn and Theo van Gogh, the scandals at Ahold and Royal Dutch Shell, and the break-up of ABN-AMRO. He speaks Dutch and English.
