Charles Huijskens | Managing Partner
Drs. Charles L. Huijskens founded the firm in 1992. He is among the leading specialists in crisis communications in the Netherlands, and has extensive experience in financial and M&A communications. His clients include(d) Mirage (owner of Blokker), ABN Amro and Chemours.
Charles is a former political journalist. He was a correspondent in The Hague and Brussels for De Telegraaf, the largest Dutch national newspaper, and for Dutch national TV news, the NOS Journaal. Charles has written several books on communications and PR.
Clemens Sassen | Partner
Clemens Sassen has extensive experience and expertise in corporate communication and financial communication in particular. Companies from various industries dealing with M&As, activist shareholders or impending bankruptcies are the type of clients he advises. In recent years, Clemens has specialised in the field of litigation-PR advising clients on their communication strategy in the run-up to and during court cases or legal disputes.
Clemens has completed a Master in European Union Studies at Leiden University and an Executive Master in Corporate Communications at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. In this latest study, he researched the communication strategies of activist shareholders at listed companies. Clemens is also active as a board member of CDA Amsterdam, where he is responsible for press and communication. He is also part of the national campaign team for that party. Clemens is also a board member of the Vereeniging Nederlandsch Historisch Scheepvaart Museum, where he is responsible for membership recruitment and fundraising.
Maarten van de Pavoordt | Senior Advisor
Maarten van de Pavoordt assists executives and organisations in the field of strategic communication. As a Senior Advisor, he helps clients achieve their goals through a clear and consistent communications strategy and thorough execution. Maarten has experience in media relations, stakeholder analysis and management, communications planning, crisis communications, media training and reputational risk assessment.
Maarten joined Huijskens Communications in 2019. Previously, he worked at Egon Zehnder where he gained broad experience in consultancy on leadership issues. He started his career as editor of the investment report The Business Year, Qatar. Maarten studied International Relations at the University of Groningen and Middle East Studies at the Lebanese American University in Beirut.
Evi Timp | Advisor
Evi Timp works as an advisor at Huijskens Communications for clients in various sectors. She advises and supports clients in drafting and executing their media and PR strategies. Before this, she worked as a journalist for HP/De Tijd. Her experience in journalism gave her an excellent understanding of the world of the media and the way the press operates. Among other things, she uses her writing skills to write press releases and strategic communications plans.
Evi studied Communications (2014) and History (2015-2018) at the University of Amsterdam. She completed her first year in Communication Science in 2014. Evi graduated with a Masters degree (MA) in International Relations.
Lynnemore van Ommen | Advisor
Lynnemore van Ommen is responsible for the daily (social) media monitoring activities and assists clients in media relations, stakeholder analyses and reputation assessments. In addition, she is currently overseeing a large-scale study that is conducted about communication in class actions.
Lynnemore has a background in scientific research. Before her employment at Huijskens Communications she worked as a communication manager at SWOCC (Foundation for Scientific Research on Commercial Communication).
Lynnemore graduated in Communication Science (BSc) and Political Communication (MSc) at the University of Amsterdam. She also obtained a Masters in Journalism and Media at the University of Rotterdam.
Janneke Veerkamp | Junior Advisor
Janneke Veerkamp works as a junior advisor at Huijskens Communications. At present, she is pursuing the Research Master Linguistics and Communication Sciences at Tilburg University. She studied International Business and Languages (BBA) at the Amsterdam School of International Business. Hence, she has expertise in conducting sound research and has extensive knowledge on the use of language and communication within an international context.
Janneke has furthermore gained research experience at the ERC (European Research Council) Consolidator Research project Political Apologies across Cultures and conducted research on integration procedures in the Netherlands at the Babylon Centre of Superdiversity.
Peter de Bie | Trainer
Our training courses are mainly provided by Peter de Bie, a successful radio maker, documentarist and the former Editor in Chief of TV programme ‘Radar’. He is known for, amongst other things, the popular radio programme ‘Nieuwsweekend’, which broadcasts on Saturday morning on NPO Radio 1.
Marja Boonen | Finance
Marja Boonen is the head of our finance department. Since our agency was founded, Marja has been involved with Huijskens Communications and with more than 25 years of experience, she leads the team responsible for financial affairs at our office.
